Sewing Saturday and Snoring

She says:
I've been building up a huge collection of clothes that need altered (pretty much all pants I ever buy, since my legs are so short) and fabrics I bought with sewing projects in minds.  On Saturday, I made myself a big cup of coffee and got started on several different projects.  I dyed, ironed, and sewed until Jason got home.  Then I moved the ironing board because it was barricading the door. :)  At the end of the day, I had hemmed a pair of pants, two skirts--and taken one in to fit at my waist, made two scarves (one block printed with whales, one that still needs to be printed with lobsters), taken in a t-shirt and made a drapey circle shirt.  And I only had to use 4 different thread colors--which is interestingly the extent of my thread collection!  This one day of sewing spectacular is pretty much equal to all of the sewing projects I have done since moving my sewing machine into our rental house (dinosaur mittens, a skirt, an applique pillow cover, a burlap sack and another hemmed pair of pants).  Woo hoo!

The drapey circle shirt that I made is 1) one of the most comfortable shirts ever and 2) pretty much the easiest thing to sew.  Awhile back, I found this crazy looking shirt on clearance at Old Navy.  It was hideous and boxy and had awkward seams, but that was how it was supposed to look.  I tried it on, mostly as a joke (because I don't usually buy hideous, boxy, awkward shirts), and I LOVED IT!  It was all flowy and wonderful.   I ended up buying it and then figuring out how to make one of my own.  If it wouldn't be totally weird, I would just wear these shirt all the time!

This is the boxy, weird shirt I bought at Old Navy.  It's just a sqaure with a neck hole and armholes.  The seams aren't even on the sides.  There's just a row of stitching about two inches in from each side.  Trust me it looks way better on!

This is the shirt I made for myself.  I don't know why I'm standing so weird, but the shirt is seriously comfortable!  Laying flat it just looks like a semi-circle, not nearly as awesome as when I put it on!

Jason is modeling my whale scarf.

Moustache crafed from the leftover threads from the frayed ends of my scarf.

Also, last night Jason went to cut his hair while I was finishing up wasting time online.  He told me it'd probably take about 20 minutes.  Almost an hour later I was surprised to still be hearing a faint "Bzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzz" sound, so I went to investigate.  I was shocked to find the bathroom empty!  I followed the noise and found Jason asleep (and snoring) and with his hair still as long as an hour ago.  Apparently he had only meant to "lay down for a minute" but then fallen asleep and tried to trick me by snoring like electric hair clippers.

  1. Thumbs up for a big cup of coffee!
Also it looks like you need to borrow Jason's hair clippers for your large white moustache.
