What I Want to Be When I Grow Up

She says:
This week I met with an advisor at Avila University to look at my transcript evaluation and plan out what classes I would be taking over the next two years to get my teacher certification for elementary education (and most of a masters degree).  It was terribly exciting (yay! back on track to be a teacher) and a bit daunting at the same time (back to being a full time student, with lots of expensive classes).

But probably the most exciting thing about the whole process was that they initially evaluated my transcripts for teaching art.  I never indicated an interest to them, but based on my college classes I would be much closer to earning that certification.  Although this is not the route I am going to take, it was quite enticing.  I have often said that I imagine being an elementary art teacher would be one of the best jobs imaginable.  It is one of my dream jobs, along with Hallmark card designer and professional birthday party princess (not a joke).

I could always add on certification for teaching art later, but I think the elementary education route will provide me with a more practical knowledge base and lead to more job opportunities.

In the meantime I am thinking about getting a tiara and printing up some fliers to try to get myself a weekend birthday party gig (definitely just a joke).
